831 Extracts Live Resin Review – Mild but Affordable
Today we will take a look at 831 Extracts, which recently arrived at my local dispensary. 831 Extracts is a company I haven’t heard of, nor do they have a website, Instagram handles, or any social media presence, really. 831 Extracts is currently only available in a few select dispensaries in California, locally and only through a delivery service in Northern California. For this review, I will take a look at the pros and cons of the live resin concentrates from 831 Extracts.
Pros:
- Good quality
- Above-average potency
- Fair taste
- Affordable prices
Cons:
- Taste/potency could be improved
Recommendations: The taste and potency of their live resin sauce/sugar could be improved.
Not as tasty as PFFN Concentrates, The Live Resin Project, and Highland Oil Company
This week, I picked up three different strains of live resin from 831 Extracts. First, the look of the Citrus Cake sauce is a dark amber appearance that looks like dry live resin sugar. Citrus Cake is described as an Indica dominant hybrid cross between Wedding Cake and LLOA (which is Lemon Lime x Orange Apricot). The aroma of Citrus Cake is sweet, earthy, and musky. It has hints of citrus, diesel, and tropical fruits, while the taste is also similarly fruity, spicy, and skunky. The effects of Citrus Cake felt uplifting, relaxing, and euphoric.
This strain was perfect for a wake or bake session and during creative activities during the weekend. However, this was my least favorite of the three different extracts I picked up from this brand. In addition, the live resin concentrates from PFFN, The Live Resin Project, and Highland Oil Company were much tastier than the Citrus Cake sugar. The THC % of Citrus Cake is 72.85% and the total cannabinoid % is 87.33%.
Not as potent as the crumble from 101 Cannabis Co., and live resin from Dimebag Concentrates and Loudpack Extracts
Next, I picked up their Blue Dream sugar, which is a classic Sativa dominant hybrid cross between Blueberry and Haze. The look of the Blue Dream sugar has the appearance and consistency of dry crumble, rather than live resin sugar. The aroma has sweet, floral, and grassy with citrus, berries, and earth, which the vaguely fruity, spicy, and earthy flavor isn’t quite as tasty as its aroma. The effects felt initially euphoric, productive, and focused followed by a relaxingly balanced high. This strain was great for daytime and afternoon sessions as it has both Sativa and Indica properties. However, it wasn’t quite as potent as the crumble from 101 Cannabis Co., as well as the live resin from Dimebag Concentrates and Loudpack Extracts. The THC % of Blue Dream is 76.55% and the total cannabinoid % is 88.79%.
831 OG is the best of the three, closer to the brands from Cookies Enterprises
Finally, the best of the three different extracts I picked up this week from 831 Extracts was easily their 831 OG live resin sauce. 831 OG, also known as Santa Cruz OG, is an Indica dominant cross between an Inferno phenotype and a very popular California strain, SFV OG. The look of their 831 OG live resin sauce has more of the consistency of wet live resin sugar. The aroma of 831 OG is sweet, earthy, and floral with hints of citrus, pine, and earth.
The flavor of their 831 OG tasted easily better than Citrus Cake sauce and the Blue Dream sugar. Both of them are much drier. The effects of 831 felt relaxing, euphoric, and sedating. It was perfect for sessions after work or during the evening. The effects also felt much better, closer to the quality of some of the brands from Cookies Enterprises, such as Mintz, Runtz, and Lemonnade. The THC % of 831 OG is 75.46% and the total cannabinoid % is 86.44%.
Only the 831 OG sauce is recommended for both its potency and taste, Blue Dream sugar for potency
The price for 831 Extracts live resin sugar/sauce is usually around $24 for a full gram, pre-tax. Overall, only the 831 OG live resin sauce is recommended for both its potency and taste. The Blue Dream sugar is recommended for its potency, while I wouldn’t recommend the Citrus Cake sauce, which also tasted slightly harsh upon the exhale. In addition, there are many other, better-tasting options for affordable live resin concentrates, such as PFFN, The Live Resin Project, and Highland Oil Company. There are also much more potent choices like 101 Cannabis Co., Dimebag Concentrates, and Loudpack Extracts that are just as affordable as 831 Extracts.
831 Extracts would be a very mild recommendation for their 831 OG sauce; however, I wouldn’t recommend the Citrus Cake sauce
In conclusion, this would be a very mild recommendation. And that is only for their 831 Extracts 831 OG, which easily had the best potency and taste. On the other hand, the quality of the Blue Dream sugar and the Citrus Cake sauce felt less tasty and weaker than the 831 OG. Overall, I feel that there are better, stronger, and tastier live resin options than the choices offered by 831 Extracts. Specifically, I would recommend PFFN, The Live Resin Project, and Highland Oil Company for better, tastier flavors. In addition, I would also recommend 101 Cannabis Co., Dimebag Concentrates, and Loudpack Extracts for stronger potency and longer-lasting effects. However, 831 Extracts is currently only available in a few select dispensaries in California, locally, and only through a delivery service in Northern California.
